Course Descriptions
At Paws-itive Experience we offer a variety of classes to meet your needs. The descriptions are a guideline of the topics covered throughout the course, however each class is tailored to address specific concerns or problem areas.
All Classes* are 6 consecutive weeks, 1 hour long.
*Canine Good Citizen is a 4 week course.
*Agility A.B.C.’s is a drop-in format.
Puppy PreSchool ($165)
For Puppies 10weeks -5 months old
Socialization in the formative time of puppyhood is the key to a happy and confident dog!! This course emphasizes proper puppy social skills - puppy playtime is an integral part of the curriculum. Basic commands such as SIT, COME, and DOWN are taught in a fun and informative atmosphere.
Puppy Package ($300)
For Puppies 10weeks -5 months old
Includes a private, in-home New To You Puppy Consultation AND our group Puppy PreSchool Class. The perfect way to get your new family off to a great start!
*NEW* AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy ($165)
For Puppies 5-10 months old
Along with more socialization and reinforcement of basic commands in practical situations, professionals in the fields of grooming, nutrition, and exercise will speak to us about their areas of expertise. We will also have loads of fun teaching tricks and building your puppy’s confidence through agility. This course also includes the AKC S.T.A.R. Program.
Basic Obedience I ($185)
For dogs 6 months and older
This course covers Basic Obedience commands: SIT, STAY, DOWN, COME, and leash manners. Problem solving such as: jumping, mouthing, barking and pulling are covered. We welcome dogs with behavioral problems.Basic Obedience II ($195)
For graduates of OUR Basic Obedience I
This course is a continuance of Basic Obedience I protocols with higher distractions and quicker response times. Agility Equipment is utilized to build confidence. Basic commands, leash manners and problem solving addressed in depth.Super Dog (aka Basic Obedience III) ($225)
For graduates of OUR Basic Obedience II
A very fast paced, energetic class! 3 weeks of the course will be taught in the classroom with weekly question and answer time and 3 weeks will be problem solving, including "fieldtrips" to work on social skills, leash manners, and crowd and traffic work as well.Private Training Lesson at school (call for pricing)
Private lessons are one-on-one with our trainers conducted at our Training Center in Rockaway. We specialize in aggression and behavior problems.Private Training Lesson in home (call for pricing)
Private lessons are one-on-one with our trainers, and are conducted in your home, or a remote location, depending on the training needs of your dog. We specialize in aggression and behavior problems.Canine Good Citizen ($100)
The Paws-itive Experience AKC Canine Good Citizen Program is designed to test both purebred and mixed bred dogs for their behavior in the home, in public, and in the presence of other dogs. The 10 steps of the test are practiced the first three weeks of the course with guidance and instruction from your instructor. The final week of the course is the CGC Test. Dogs that pass will receive a CGC medallion from Paws-itive Experience Pet Services. A great way to show off your dog's good manners & earn AKC recognition.Therapy Dog ($185)
Our Therapy Dog Program will teach you and your dog how to bring smiles and happy moments to these patients through manners training and with helping your dog become comfortable around wheelchairs, crutches, walkers and canes.
This is a six session program for friendly, gentle dogs that are content being petted and handled that will prepare you to take the therapy dog evaluation.
One of the major therapy dog organizations in this area, Bright and Beautiful Therapy Dogs, Inc., will evaluate your dog for certification. We will provide you with a date and time for the evaluation at graduation.Out & About ($150)
For graduates of OUR Basic Obedience II
We are offering our students the opportunity to go “out and about” to practice learned skills in public areas. This 4-week course is fun and challenging. The first week of class is held at the training center and afterwards the class will meet in parks and different towns. We will also have the opportunity to visit some dog friendly businesses. Dogs must be people and dog friendly and have taken Basic Obedience II Class.
This class is on leash and has limited registration.Tricks for Treats ($165)
For graduates of OUR Basic Obedience
In this class dogs of all ages learn a variety of commands not usually taught in obedience classes. We will help you to teach your dog to think; the positive training style will build your dog's confidence through treats and praise for a job well done; and will also help develop a stronger bond between you and your dog. All that and it's lots of fun, too!!

For graduates of OUR Basic Obedience I
RALLY –O (Rally Obedience) - Fun, Exciting, Energizing, Teamwork
Although Rally-O is a sport with an eye towards competition, it will also produce dogs trained to behave in the home, public places and in the presence of other dogs. Rally-O is an informal style of obedience, unlimited communication between dog and handler is encouraged, as well as praise, hand signals and multiple commands as you make your way between the exercise signs.
Dogs should have completed a basic obedience course so, as a team, you have an understanding of basic commands such as sit, down, stay and beginning attention. You will certainly enjoy this fun and energizing class – a great way to learn obedience.*NEW* Rally O Advanced ($150)
For graduates of OUR Rally O Beginner
RALLY –O (Rally Obedience) - Fun, Exciting, Energizing, Teamwork

This class is not for competition training, it is for people looking to have fun with their dogs while learning about a wonderful dog sport.
A dog’s confidence in himself and his trust in you is paramount to a healthy relationship with our canine friends. By getting your dog to accomplish challenges our agility obstacles represent, your dog will gain that confidence and trust. You and your dog will be introduced to all the different types of agility equipment, learn the purpose of the equipment, and most of all learn another way to have FUN while exercising with your dog. Because of the drop-in format, you can come when it fits your schedule.Beginner Agility ($150)
This class introduces owners and their dogs to the sport of Dog Agility. No prior experience required! Agility is a great way to stimulate your dog's mind and body while having fun. In this class, dogs will start to learn how to perform the agility obstacles and follow directions, while people will learn the basics on how to "handle" their dogs through the agility course. Get started on the right "paw" and come bond with your dog while both his brain and body get a workout!Beginner Agility II ($150)
This class is for teams who have completed an introductory course to Agility and want to continue learning Agility. In this class, dogs will continue learning how to perform the obstacles and handlers will learn more techniques for telling their dogs where to go. We will start sequencing obstacles together in order to get the dogs and handlers moving in flow as a team!Intermediate Agility ($150)
This class is for graduates of Beginners II
We will increase number of obstacles in sequences to build towards running full courses. Dog's obstacle performances will be refined so that they truly know how to perform each obstacle on their own. Handlers will learn new commands and techniques to successfully navigate their dogs through sequences.Advanced Agility ($150)
This class is for teams who have completed an introductory course to Agility and want to continue learning Agility. In this class, dogs will continue learning how to perform the obstacles and handlers will learn more techniques for telling their dogs where to go. We will start sequencing obstacles together in order to get the dogs and handlers moving in flow as a team!
